Spring Barn Farm - with Mike, Louise and TomFriday 16 November 2012
As ever, a busy time across the business in the lead up to Christmas. As the weather has turned, our outdoor team leader Tom has been settling the farm park animals and getting them bedded down for the winter. You may have noticed that Farmer Tom’s cattle have moved too, they have moved from the (now very wet) Brooks wetlands and are up on the much drier chalk downland behind the farm park. This year’s Maize maze is now looking a bit sorry for itself, gone are the lush green leaves, so plans are underway for what to do next year. Crop rotation is often the key to success for such things as Maize fields, so perhaps next year we will try something a little different… watch this space, we will keep you updated of course!
Sussex Game season is well underway, we will have both fresh and frozen in store. We can also order in a whole host of other fresh Game for you, all local. Call in for prices or give us a ring - great for something different for Christmas. For those of you that prefer the more traditional Turkey, order yours in the farm shop now. Locally slow reared breeds from Barcombe, taste the difference on Christmas Day! Order your vegetable boxes too: we prepare everything you need for collection - easy peasy, and with competitive prices mostly undercutting Waitrose, the perfect solution for the impending Christmas food shop stress! Plenty of other festive foodie treats in store now too, to see you through the dark cold days!
Meanwhile, we have been busy creating this year’s beautiful Christmas Shop. We have carefully selected ranges from the ever popular Gisella Graham and Enchante, and new for this year, some unique handmade decorations from Fair to Trade, including Paper Mache baubles from Kashmir and wonderful hand-carved Olive wood creations from Bethlehem. Come and take a look at all the baubles, tree decorations, wreaths, tableware, lights, ceramics, cards, tree toppers, and more!
Jingle Bells can also be heard in the distance… it won’t be long until Santa visits Spring Barn Farm! Take a walk through the Winter Wonderland, hear a Christmas Story from our Jolly Elf, and meet Santa in his stable, where all the boys and girls will get a present. The dates are as follows:
- Sat 24rd & Sun 25th November
- Sat 1st & Sun 2nd December
- Sat 8th & Sun 9th December
